Students visit to the Polytechnic School of Art Exibition
Yesterday all the Esol students went to the School of Art to see their annual Exibition. I saw some kinds of arts like ceramics, D.M.I (digital moving images), Jewellery & metal smithing, painting, photographing, printmaking, sculpture and textiles.
A memorable one was, I don't remember the name of the this art work, but the artist was a Korean girl. In a small dark room she placed tall plant about 2 metres high on a shiny, black, dark mirror-like floor, then hung 108 golden rings in the air using 108 strings to every branch of the plant. All the branches were bending in the air, the length of each string was different and some golden rings were almost touching the black glossy mirror floor.
I think she tried to express something about hard life and struggling things, and the passion in the passage of our lives. When I asked, she said that the number 108 comes from Buddihism background. That means 108 kinds of passions while we live.
There was also glass room on the side of that room. She filled it with a specific number of toy bears and small dolls which were wrapped completely by white bandages.
She must try to send a message with that number.I also watched certain Digital Moving Images on the T.V monitor. There was a title, it's medical someting ? There playing certain operation in hospital , woman was giving a birth by scissor section. It was a bit of gore pictures for galleries. Well, I didn't understand well what an artist was trying to say with that picture.
I have not seen all of the art works at the exibition, but I would like to thank all the artists for their endeavours and achievements doing their art works. So, I would like to go there again after school right away.
